As part of the Soil course we are learning how to make compost and its implication on the
soil. In Tlalim we saw two different ways of making compost.
We learned about the composting process while looking at a compost manure piles where we could actually feel
the changes between the different composting stages. We also learned about the difference between the decomposition of organic matter in the soil and in the composting process.
Then, we talked about other methods of composting and saw the worm compost. We followed all the stages of the process, held worms in our hands and learned how we can apply this method at home. We discussed the advantages and disadvantages of each method from the point of the composting process and from the applications point of views.
Finally we discussed how compost can help with different soil health problems.
